Beach at Big Tub (Tobermory, Ontario, Canada)

Beach at Big Tub

Newly constructed, three bedroom, two-bathroom home (1750 sq. ft.) located at the foot of Big Tub Harbour only a one km / fifteen minute walk from Tobermory.

The cottage has a large open concept living / dining area spread out across the lake side of the cottage. This room has large windows and sliding glass doors that provide a lovely panoramic view of the lake.
The living room has a leather couch, two leather love seats, a 27 inch television with VCR, DVD player, satellite tv and gas fire place to take the chill off on cool evenings.
Adjacent to the living room is the dining area with large harvest table and sitting for six.
The large, bright kitchen has ample storage and cooking equipment, all usual appliances found in today's modern homes, from fridge, stove dishwasher to microwave and coffee maker. There is also plenty of counter and cupboard space as well as a breakfast bar with four stools.
Down the hall from the kitchen is a bedroom with queen and double beds and a four piece bathroom with a door leading directly outside. This is a nice feature so that kids can run up from the lake to use the bathroom without running through the house. Full laundry facilities are also located on the ground floor.
The second storey of the cottage has a large master bedroom, four piece bathroom (bidet and shower ) and kids room with a set of bunk beds. The master bedroom features a king size bed, sitting area with gas fireplace and sliding glass doors leading out to a second storey deck with a marvelous view of the lake and two Muskoka chairs.
A really nice feature of this cottage is the large lake side deck containing four Muskoka chairs, and a gas barbeque. To enhance your view of the lake the owners have placed clear glass along the front of the deck.
A trail leads from the cottage down to the lake side dock. Depth of water at the end of the dock is 2 feet deep. The shore line has a sandy apron great for your kids to play. Once in the water the shore consists of a mixture of sand and gravel with the water getting deep gradually.
Big Tub Harbour is famous for being the deepest fresh water harbour in the world. It forms part of Fathom Five National Park and has two shipwrecks which are historic sites. You can snorkel these wrecks which are located only 100 metres off shore.
The cottage is located only 1 km from the scenic Village of Tobermory where you can stroll through the shops in the village, visit the library, restaurants and the beautiful natural harbour, or take a scenic boat cruise where you view shipwrecks, lighthouses and visit Flowerpot Island. Also, dinner cruises aboard the Chi-Cheemaun are very popular.
For hikers, naturalists and scuba divers, the area is a dream. A 10 minute drive away, guided tours are available along the Niagara Escarpment, or along the sandy shores of Singing Sands on Lake Huron. Amphitheater programs are available at Cyprus Lake at dusk and are informative and entertaining.
